Fear Class – Week 2

2 Timothy 1:7 (AMP) – For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.

Psalm 34:4 (AMP) – I sought (inquired of) the Lord and required Him [of necessity and on the authority of His Word], and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

The is victory FOR YOU over every fear!  You can be delivered from all of your fears!  Seek the Lord and require Him, and He will deliver you.

Power * Love * A Sound and Well- Balance Mind

These are three powerful forces that God has given us to overcome fear.  In this life we face fear constantly, we feel anxious about many things, and for many the stresses of life continually plague our lives.  God told us not to fear many times in the Bible.  But He didn’t leave it at that: He gave us tools to use against fear. This week we will look at the first of these, POWER.

This is the Greek Word “dunamis” which is translated power, mighty work, strength, miracle, might, virtue, mighty.

Jesus has defeated the enemy. taken away his power against us, completely disarmed him and given us the authority over him.

Colossians 1:13 (AMP) – [The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

We are delivered from the authority and dominion of darkness. We are no longer under the control of any force of darkness.  We now belong in His Kingdom.

Matthew 28:18 (AMP) – Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

All authority in heaven and earth was given Him.  The next thing He did was pass this power onto us to go out into the world and win the lost.  So every member of the Body of Christ has all power and authority in heaven and earth.

Ephesians 1:20-22; 2:6 (AMP)  – Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places],  far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come.  And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church].  Ephesians 2:6 (AMP)  And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

Jesus defeated all of the power of every rule, authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named.  All things are under His feet. He is now head over all things, head of the church which is His body on earth.  He has raised us up, and we now sit together with with Him in this place of authority to rule and reign over our own lives and over the world around us.

Luke 10:19 – We have power over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall harm us.

Colossians 2:15 – God has disarmed the principalities and powers against us.

Hebrews 2:14 – Jesus broke the power of fear over us. (Romans 8:15)

Ephesians 4:27 – Give no place to the devil. This implies he can’t take it unless we give it.

We should not in any way be afraid of the devil.  In Jesus we have complete authority to overcome him.

1 Peter 5:8-9 – He is seeking whom he may devour. This implies that there are those who he can’t devour. (Proverbs 28:1; 30:30; Phil 1:28)

James 4:7 – Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Stand up to him, and he will turn and run. Don’t yield to His fears and lies; resist them.  Resist them by taking God’s thoughts from the Word in their place.

1 John 4:4 – Greater is He who is in me that he who is in the world. (2 Kings 6:14-17).  The One of defeated all the power of darkness isn’t just in heaven seated at the right hand of God.  He lives WITHIN YOU!  He is close as inside of you at all times and in every situation.

1 John 3:8 – Jesus came to destroy all of the works of the enemy. This includes the ones in me.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 – I have mighty and effective weapons to tear down any stronghold.

1 John 5:4 – Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
