God’s Power is Tangible

The Anointing

God’s power and glory is sometimes called the anointing.  There was a tangible power that came out of Jesus that healed people.  This power was also seen in the book of Acts.  The anointing destroys yokes.

Acts 10:38 – You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power.  This anointing power enabled Him heal and do good wherever people were oppressed by the devil.  This showed that God was with Him.  This anointing was the manifestation of the reality of God.  God can be transmitted through one person to another.

Luke 6:19 – Power was coming out from Him and healing all of them.

Acts 19:11-12 – This power was transmitted from Paul through handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin and were brought to the sick, and their diseases left them, and the evil spirits came out of them.

This power is tangible.  It doesn’t only have a heavenly materiality but also a physical reality.  It delivers people.  It heals them. It makes changes in their lives and situations.

Mark 5:28-34 – Immediately He was aware that power had gone forth from Him.  It was released to meet her faith and heal her.

Luke 8:46 – Jesus said, Someone touched me; for I noticed that power has gone out from me.

How did they perceive this power?   Did they feel it in their bodies?  Did it knock them to the ground.  Did it bring tangible results in their bodies. Somehow this anointed power was manifested into the physical world.

This power is transferable.  It will flow from one person to another, mainly by touch such as in the laying on of hands.  In Paul it was stored in a handkerchief and passed on.  In Jesus it was stored in His clothing and released to those who had faith in Him, even without His cooperation. This power can be stored in a recording or video and passed on when listened to.

Acts 5:15-16 – This power was so strong through Peter that even his shadow falling on people healed them.

2 Kings 13:20-21 – There was still enough of this power in Elisha’s bones that it raised a man from the dead after he had been dead for years.

We carry this power of God around in our earthly bodies.  We need to become God inside-minded and put faith in Him who indwells us so that He can flow through us as He did in Bible times.

We Have Received Power

Webster: ability to do, capacity to act, great ability, vigor, force; physical force or energy (like electrical power).

Strongs – dunamis – force, miraculous power, ability.

Acts 1:8 – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses… The Holy Spirit fills us with this power.

Acts 10:38 – …how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

This is the power of the Lord: to do good and heal all oppressed of the devil. This power is God’s.  It will only work through a vessel who is connected to the source of power, connected on the inside and fully committed to God.  The more yielded to God and His will I am and the more of His power that works in me, the more of His power can flow through me.

“Electricity is Gods power in the natural realm, but the Holy Ghost is God’s power in the spirit realm.”  John G. Lake.

There are laws that govern the flowing of power in both these realms.  We have to find and follow them.  Electricity won’t flow through just any substance.  Neither will spiritual power.

The Holy Spirit flows out of my innermost being like water.

John 7:37 – And let the one who believes in me drink.  As the scripture has said, Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.

Matthew 17:5-7 – At the transfiguration a cloud overshadowed Him and a voice spoke out of the cloud.  When the disciple heard this, they fell on their faces and were much afraid.  And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, arise and do not be afraid.

Jesus understands men’s reactions to experiences in the Spirit – they many times fall on their faces and are afraid.  His response today would be the same – He touched them and told them not to be afraid.

  1. I found this because I wanted to know why I was having electricity flowing in my body shocking me. I was inside the house I have no electrical source connected to but the holy Spirit. That’s when I realized my source was God connection to me for his work. Thanks for the explanation. It’s the power of God
