Come To Me and Be There
Exodus 24:12 – And the Lord said to Moses, come up to Me into the mountain and be there, and I will give you tables of stone, with the law and the commandments which I have written that you may teach them.
I sense this is what the Lord is saying to me right now, that I come to Him and be there, that I spend time in His presence. While there He will give me His word that I might teach it. (See also Ezekiel 3:1-4).
(MSG) – God said to Moses, climb higher up the mountain and wait there for me; I’ll give you tablets of stone, the teachings and commandments that I’ve written to instruct them
(CEV) – The Lord said to Moses, come up on the mountain and stay here for a while. I will give you the two flat stones on which I have written the laws that my people must obey.
The words “be there” imply some time. Stay there with Him for a while. While Moses was there with the Lord, he was given what he was to give to the people. My communion and time together with the Lord produces what I have to give.
All of the busy things of life try to crowd my time and keep me from this which is most important. He is most important. My with Him is most important. The fruit I am designed to bear can only come through our relationship and intimate fellowship, only as I abide in Him and He in me. (See John 15:1-4). I was not made to live my life on my own; my full fulfillment comes only through union with Him. I am a whole person only when His life combines with mine. I find my highest purpose and best life only in and through Him.
Exodus 24:15-18 – Then Moses went up into the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. The glory of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day [God] called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. And the glory of the Lord appeared to the Israelites like devouring fire on the top of the mountain. Moses entered into the midst of the cloud and went up the mountain, and Moses was on the mountain forty days and nights.
Moses went up to God on the mountain. The presence and glory of the Lord rested on the mountain. He was there six days in the glory. After six days, the Lord spoke from the glory. And Moses entered into the midst of the cloud and stayed there with the Lord for forty days and nights. He was there with the Lord in the glory for six days before the Lord spoke. He came to be there for a while.
Get to the Know Him and His love
John 17:36 (Amplified) – O just and righteous Father, although the world has not known You and has failed to recognize You and has never acknowledged You, I have known You [continually]; and these men understand and know that You have sent Me. I have made Your Name known to them and revealed Your character and Your very Self, and I will continue to make [You] known, that the love which You have bestowed upon Me may be in them [felt in their hearts] and that I [Myself] may be in them.
This is one of the things He does while I am “there” with Him. He reveals Himself to me. Who He is and what He is like comes clear. He very essence comes into me. He infuses me with Himself and I am changed into His likeness from glory to glory. When I come down and back into my life, it is evident that I have been with Him. I carry Him.
Exodus 34:28-29, 35 – Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he ate no bread and drank no water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments. When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tables of the Testimony in his hand, he did not know that the skin of his face shone and sent forth beams by reason of his speaking with the Lord. The Israelites saw the face of Moses, how the skin of it shone; and Moses put the veil on his face again until he went in to speak with God.
I am a letter from Christ, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God on the tablet of my heart. Being with Him qualifies me and makes me fit and sufficient as a minster and dispenser of the new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit who makes alive. Without the needed time with Him, I am not qualified, and I can’t bear the fruit I am made to bear (2 Corinthians 3:3, 6).
With unveiled face I continue to behold Him in His word and am constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another. This comes only from the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Like Moses I carry brilliance or glory that people can’t look steadily at my face – but only when I spend extended time with Him in His presence.
Ephesians 3:16-19 (Amplified) – May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality]. May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love, That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it]; [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!
It is out of the rich treasury of His glory that I am strengthened. As I spend time with Him “there” in His presence and am transformed into His image from one degree of glory to another. It is out of the rich treasury of His glory that I am strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by His Spirit. This happens as He Himself indwells my innermost being and personality.
Only through abiding, He in me and me in Him, do I have power to be strong and apprehend and grasp the bounds of His love. Only through time “there with Him” can I be filled through all my being unto all the fullness of God, have the richest measure of the divine presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself.
Christ through my faith actually dwells, settles down, abides, and makes His permanent home in my heart. Along with spending time in prayer being with Him, faith also has a large part to play in me being filled with Him and His presence being manifest in and through me. I believe He is there in me and with me always because He says He is. I keep this reality focused in my mind. (See more on this in these articles: Ephesians 3 Prayer and Jesus Living in Me.)
His Face Shines on Me
Numbers 6:24-26 – The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you; the Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
(MSG) – GOD bless you and keep you, GOD smile on you and gift you, GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
(TLB) – May the Lord bless and protect you; may the Lord’s face radiate with joy because of you; may he be gracious to you, show you his favor, and give you his peace.
(GW) – The LORD will bless you and watch over you. The LORD will smile on you and be kind to you. The LORD will look on you with favor and give you peace.
SO good! Thank you for sharing.
