I just started looking at Scriptures telling why Jesus came and what I found expresses His great goodness and love for all mankind.
What Jesus Said and Demonstrated
Luke 4:18-19 (AMP) – The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the good news to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity], to proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound].
Jesus came to:
- Preach the GOOD NEWS to the poor.
- Announce release to the captives
- Announce the recovery of sight to the blind.
- Send forth as delivered those who are:
- Oppressed
- Downtrodden
- Bruised
- Crushed
- Broken down by calamity
- Proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, the day when the free favors of God profusely abound.
1 John 3:8 (AMP) – ….The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done].
John 3:16-17 (AMP) – For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him.
Acts 10:38 – How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him.
1 John 3:5 (AMP) 5 You know that He appeared in visible form and became Man to take away [upon Himself] sins, and in Him there is no sin [essentially and forever].
Matthew 9:35-38 (AMP) – And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom and curing all kinds of disease and every weakness and infirmity. When He saw the throngs, He was moved with pity and sympathy for them, because they were bewildered (harassed and distressed and dejected and helpless), like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest.
God greatly loves and dearly prizes the world and is moved with compassion upon mankind so that Jesus went about doing good and healing all who are harassed and oppressed. This is how Jesus looked at the world then, and this is how He looks at the world now. The church has given a very different viewpoint. We need to get back to showing what Jesus is really like instead of presenting a judgmental, condemning God, always out to get people for their sins.
Jesus also came to:
- Undo, loosen, and dissolve all the works of the devil.
- To save the world not judge, condemn it or pass sentence on it.
- That the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound though Him.
- To give those who receive Him eternal life.
- To take away our sin.
- To do good and heal all who are:
- Harassed
- oppressed
- Teach
- Proclaim the good news.
- Heal all kinds of disease
- Heal every weakness and infirmity.
- He is moved with compassion and sympathy on the:
- Bewildered
- Harassed
- Distressed
- Dejected
- Helpless
Jesus told us to pray for more labors to go forth and do exactly what He did. We are to be moved by the same love and compassion.
2 Corinthians 5:14 (AMP) – For the love of Christ controls and urges and impels us, because we are of the opinion and conviction that [if] One died for all, then all died;
2 Corinthians 5:18-2 (AMP)1 – But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him]. It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor). So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God. For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].
God was personally present in Christ and has:
- Reconciled us to Himself.
- Received us into favor.
- Brought us in to harmony with Himself.
- Restored the entire world to favor with Himself.
- Is not counting up or holding against men their sin; instead He has cancelled them.
- Given us the ministry of reconciliation.
- We are His ambassadors and God makes His appeal through us to:
- Lay hold of the divine favor now offered.
- Be reconciled to God.
This clearly shows God’s purpose and intention for the world, what Jesus came for and accomplished and what He desires for us to do following in His footsteps. Thank you Lord for you great goodness. Lord, open our eyes and let us begin to show the world around us what you are really like. Let us take Jesus as the Word of God presents Him and reject all religious ideas that contradict this view.
