Awake Put on Strength – Adventures in God

Awake Put on Strength

Isaiah 52:1-2 – Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city; for henceforth there shall no more come into you the uncircumcised and the unclean.  Shake yourself from the dust; arise, sit [erect in a dignified place], O Jerusalem; loose yourself from the bonds of your neck, O captive Daughter of Zion.

(BBE) – Awake! Awake! Put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful robes, O Jerusalem, the holy town: for from now there will never again come into you the unclean and those without circumcision.  Make yourself clean from the dust; up and take the seat of your power, O Jerusalem: the bands of your neck are loose, O imprisoned daughter of Zion.

Awake and put on your strength.  Put on the beautiful garments of the new creation.  Shake yourself from the old thoughts and ways. Lay aside, strip off and throw aside every encumbrance and weight and the sin which clings and entangles you and run with Him on the path set before you with your eyes ever on Jesus. Put on His thoughts and His ways.  Arise and take the seat of your power.  Loose yourself from the bonds on your neck.

Isaiah 60:1Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!

(BBE) – Up! Let your face be bright, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is shining on you.

(NLT) – Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see.  For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you.

(TLB) – Arise, my people! Let your light shine for all the nations to see! For the glory of the Lord is streaming from you.

Lord, I arise from the old depression and pattern of my hope being continually deferred and walk into the new life on hope that does not disappoint that is before me.  I shine and am radiant with the glory of the Lord.  The glory has risen upon me.  My face is bright.  My light has come.  His glory is shining on me.  I arise for all to see the light in me.  For the glory of the Lord is streaming from me.  I rise up and take my place of power and authority seated with Him in the heavenly places to reign and rule in life.

Isaiah 49:2-3 – And He has made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of His hand has He hid me and made me a polished arrow; in His quiver has He kept me close and concealed me.  And [the Lord] said to me, You are My servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

Isaiah 51:16-17 – And I have put My words in your mouth and have covered you with the shadow of My hand, that I may fix the heavens as a tabernacle and lay the foundations of a earth and say to Zion, You are My people.  Arouse yourself, awake! Stand up, O Jerusalem.

  • He has made my mouth like a sharp sword
  • In the shadow of His hand He has hidden me.
  • He made me a polished arrow and in His quiver He has kept me close and concealed me.
  • He has put His words in my mouth.
  • He has covered me with the shadow of His hand.
  • I arouse myself and awake and stand up and take my place in prayer and in speaking the Word.

Isaiah 50:4-5 – [The Servant of God says] The Lord God has given Me the tongue of a disciple and of one who is taught, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary.  He wakens Me morning by morning, He wakens My ear to hear as a disciple [as one who is taught].  The Lord God has opened My ear, and I have not been rebellious or turned backward.

He awakens me morning by morning.  He wakens my ear to hear Him.  He has opened my ear, and I take heed to His word.

He has given me the tongue of one who is taught that I should know how to speak.  I speak words of God in prayer, and I know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary.

Isaiah 59:21 – As for Me, this is My covenant or league with them, says the Lord: My Spirit, Who is upon you [and Who writes the law of God inwardly on the heart], and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouths of your [true, spiritual] children, or out of the mouths of your children’s children, says the Lord, from henceforth and forever.

1 Corinthians 2:4 – And my language and my message were not set forth in persuasive (enticing and plausible) words of wisdom, but they were in demonstration of the [Holy] Spirit and power [a proof by the Spirit and power of God, operating on me and stirring in the minds of my hearers the most holy emotions and thus persuading them],

  1. What version do you use when you mention Is. 60:1? I really like the extended meaning. It’s different than the Amplified.

    Thanks
