Sowing & Reaping

God Works Through Process

Isaiah 28:9-12 – To whom would He teach knowledge, and to whom would He interpret the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just taken from the breast?

For He says, order on order, order on order, line on line, line on line, a little here, a little there. Indeed, He will speak to this people through stammering lips and a foreign tongue, He who said to them, here is rest, give rest to the weary, and, here is repose, but they would not listen.

John 16:12-13 (NLT) – There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.

There are many things I don’t yet know that the Lord wants to teach me, but He doesn’t do it all at once. I couldn’t get it or bear it that way. He has given me His Spirit to guide me into all truth. Guiding is gradual. Growth is a God-ordained process. He teaches me from glory to glory, order on order, line on line, here a little, there a little.

Deuteronomy 7:21-24 – You shall not dread them, for the Lord your God is among you, a mighty and terrible God. And the Lord your God will clear out those nations before you, little by little; you may not consume them quickly, lest the beasts of the field increase among you.

But the Lord your God will give them over to you and will confuse them with a mighty panic until they are destroyed. And He will give their kings into your hand, and you shall make their name perish from under the heavens; there shall no man be able to stand before you, until you have destroyed them.

Exodus 23:27-30 – I will send My terror ahead of you and throw into confusion all the people among whom you come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you. I will send hornets ahead of you so that they will drive out the Hivites, the Canaanites, and the Hittites before you. I will not drive them out before you in a single year, that the land may not become desolate and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. I will drive them out before you little by little, until you become fruitful and take possession of the land.

God doesn’t want me to take over more than I can maintain of the personal Promised Land He has set aside for me. It is the leadership of the Holy Spirit I am to rely on as gradually I drive out the old ways and thoughts and take hold of what is mine. I trust in the Lord and none shall be able to stand before me until I have destroyed them all.

It takes Time

1 John 3:8 – The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done].

Jesus already did this. He defeated the devil on time and for all, but it takes time to fully work that salvation into our lives.

THE REASON the son of God was manifest and made visible was to undo, destroy, loosen, and dissolve the works the devil.

He destroyed the works of the devil, but if our thinking is infiltrated by thoughts planted by the devil, it may take time to loosen all of the roots and completely dissolve all of the residue.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 – For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

He has given us mighty and effective weapons to overthrow and destroy the strongholds (theories, reasonings, speculations, arguments, thoughts contrary to the thoughts of God).

The renewing of the mind isn’t instant. It takes time. (Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 4:22-23; Philippians 2:12-13).

Matthew 15:13 – He answered, every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be torn up by the roots.

We get born again and receive His spirit into us. We are new, but we have to renew our minds. This is a process of rooting up the old ways of thought and all that was produced by it and replanting truth in its place – and waiting for it to grow up to the point that it bears good fruit.

Matthew 13:33 – He told them another parable: The kingdom of heaven is like leaven (sour dough) which a woman took and covered over in three measures of meal or flour till all of it was leavened.

Mark 4:13 – And He said to them, do you not discern and understand this parable? How then is it possible for you to discern and understand all the parables?

All other parables have their foundation is the parable of the sower. To understand the things hidden from the foundation of the world that Jesus taught in parables, you must understand how spiritual things happen. God’s world works through sowing and reaping. He does do things instantly at times, but on the most part, things take time, order on order, line on line, a little here, a little there
