Prayer & Music

Habakkuk 3:1 – A prayer (tephillah – intercession, supplication, hymn, prayer – a type of prayer that is sung as part of formal worship) of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.

God’s house is to be a house of this sung prayer for all the nations (Isaiah 56:7)

Shiginoth – the Hebrew word used to describe this prayer means that this petition was set to wild and enthusiastic music. It was anything but quiet.

Tephillah prayer, practiced in a prophetic fashion, born out of a heart wrestling with painful issues and still embracing a relationship with a holy God, is key for revival.

The expression “glory of God” is used in the Bible in a number of different contexts. However, a simple but accurate definition is “who God is, clearly manifested and what He does, powerfully demonstrated.”

Man has been created in such a way that his ability to be what God intended him to be can only be accomplished when he is in the presence of God and the power of God is released through him. Without the presence of God’s glory, man can do nothing concerning his God-intended purpose for being.

Habakkuk 2:14 – But [the time is coming when] the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

In the presence of glory we are set free from things that limit, inhibit or pull down.

Filled – saturate to the point of overflowing.

Knowledge – first-hand experience or intimate knowledge of something through close observation and contact.

Glory – the sum total of all God’s attributes.

The earth will be filled to overflowing, saturating God’s people with an intimate knowledge of God’s glory, through close observation and the first-hand experience of the attributes and perfection of God’s love, holiness and power.

Songs

Songs can be a door into spiritual things that we can’t access in any other way.

“Songs are for different purposes. There are songs for every move of God.

Songs become literal tools to appropriate power and connect it with people. They can be tools to bring people into what the Lord is doing. Songs can enable people to enter into a place in God that they have not yet known about or never known how to come in. Songs from heaven lift people to heaven.

A song is a well and if you know to, you can access what is in it on purpose.”
