Saturated with His Presence

What is the Anointing

Glory – The manifested presence of God, God revealing Himself in a way perceivable to our senses.

Jesus was anointed with the Holy Ghost and power and went about doing good and healing all – for God was with Him. The glory of God, the Spirit, comes from the presence of God, doing good, healing all, and meeting needs (Acts 10:38).

Virtue – dynamis – power, mighty work, strength, miracle, might. Virtue was the substance of His being, the quickened, living power of God, the very nature and being of God.

New Testament Examples

Jesus at the transfiguration – the Spirit radiated from His being until His clothes became white and glistening and His face shown as the light.

The woman who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment. Knowing how His whole being radiated with that wondrous, blessed life of God of which He Himself was the living manifestation, she knew if she touched Him it would come into her and heal her.

Luke 6:19 – Power was coming out from Him and healing all of them.

Mark 5:28-34 – Immediately He was aware that power had gone forth from Him. It was released to meet her faith and heal her. It was a tangible spiritual force that had results in the natural world.

Luke 8:46 – Jesus said, someone touched me; for I noticed that power had gone out from me.

People have been so in the habit of putting Jesus in a class by Himself that they have failed to recognized that He has made provision for the same living Spirit of God that dwelt in Him own life to inhabit our being and mind.

Acts 19:11-12 – Paul received so much of God into His being that when men brought him their handkerchiefs and woman brought their aprons to Paul, they became impregnated with the living Spirit of God and when carried to one who was sick or possessed, when they were laid on them the sick were healed and the devils cast out.

Acts 5:15-16 – This power was so strong through Peter that even his shadow falling on people healed them.

Moses’ skin shone after being with the Lord

Exodus 34:29-30, 35 – And it came about when Moses was coming down from Mount Sinai, that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because of his speaking with Him. So when Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. The sons of Israel would see the face of Moses that the skin of Moses’ face shone. So Moses would replace the veil over his face until he went in to speak with Him.

2 Corinthians 3:7-8 – But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was, how shall the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory?

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 – Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty – emancipation from bondage, freedom. And all of us as with unveiled face (because we) continued to behold as in a mirror the glory of the Lord are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another: (for this comes) from the Lord (who is the Spirit.

Luke 11:34, 36 – Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is sound and fulfilling its office, your whole body is full of light; but when it is not sound and is not fulfilling its office, your body is full of darkness. If then your entire body is illuminated, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright [with light], as when a lamp with its bright rays gives you light.

The Anointing is Tangible and Transferable

This power is tangible. It is not merely a doctrine or a spiritual thing; it is also a physical reality. It delivers people.  It heals them. It sets them free makes changes in their lives and situations.

How did the people perceive this power?  It must have been in some tangible way. Did they feel it in their bodies? Did it knock them to the ground?

We know it brought actual, physical results in their bodies? The glory is a spiritual force but affects the natural world. It can be felt and perceived and experienced.

This power is transferable. It will flow from one person to another, mainly by touch such as in the laying on of hands. In Paul it was stored in a handkerchief and passed on. In Jesus it was stored in His clothing and released to those who had faith in Him, even without His conscious cooperation. It was still in Elisha’s dead bones years later, enough to raise someone from the dead! It came through the shadow or Peter as He passed by and healed those who came into contact with it.

When we speak of the Spirit of God being transmitted to man, we are not talking about an influence, either spiritual or mental; we are talking about the transmission of the living substance or being of God into your being and into mine.

My Story

Back in the 1980’s I began to seek the Lord diligently to overcome some fears and other things that were hindering me from being all I could be – and to prepare myself to be ready to be in the ministry for Him.

I was not working at the time, so I showed up before the Lord at 8 am every morning to pray and to study the Word of God. I did this for about 3 months. Then something interesting began to happen. Usually by the afternoon, there came upon me a strong presence, and I just felt to relax and “be with Him” and let His presence permeate my being. I spent much of my life just “being” with Him.

Throughout the next few months, my life was totally transformed by His presence and by the truth that was revealed to me during that time. People who came around me would say to me, “I feel God” I ministered to them or, “There is a peace coming out of you” or other things like this.

There were a few other times in my life that similar things happened when I sought the Lord diligently for a new freedom or for more of Him. But by then I understood better what was going. on.

Because I like every experience to be supported by scripture, I began to seek the Lord to understand that overwhelming sense of presence and power, sometimes coming like waves so strong that I could hardly move without staggering or falling down. I didn’t understand right then, but through the years, the scriptures below began to come to me. Below are the things He taught me about how His presence came upon me and made me free.

The Anointing Breaks the Yoke

Isaiah 10:27 – And it shall come to pass in that day that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Habakkuk 3:1-4 – The prayer of Habakkuk the prophet set to wild and enthusiastic and triumphal music. Oh, Lord, I have heard report of you and was afraid… God came… His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of His praise. And His brightness was like the sunlight; rays streamed from His hand, and there (in the sun-like splendor) was the hiding place of His power.

Malachi 4:2 – …to those who fear His Name; the sun of righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings and His beams and you shall go forth and gambol (frisk, skip about in place) like calves released from the stall and leap for joy.

Psalm 95:1-2, 6; 96:1, 8-9; 97:3-6; 100:1-5 – As I enter His presence through joyful praise and thanks-giving and begin to worship Him with all of my heart, His presence comes like a fire and burns up my adversaries. The mountains in my life melt like wax at His presence.

  1. Thank you for the write up. Please give me counsel I have not received the gift of the holy Spirit for over 30 years. I am even in the ministry of the gospel now and I have been praying.

    1. You need only ask the Holy Spirit come upon and within you. To fill every part of you with Himself in the name of Jesus Christ. You must believe to receive and you will surely see and feel manifestations of His glory but be patient IF you don’t feel or see it instantly.
