I saw the below statement recently posted on facebook, implying that those who followed the RNC were ignorant and unintelligent people.
“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that ‘my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'” (Isaac Asimov)
“A lot of that ignorance going around these days, it seems. Much of it will be on display at the Republican National Convention.”
To any thinking person who is willing to think their own thoughts and not follow the crowd, it is obvious what is good and bad. Where is common sense these days?
- Riots, looting, and hurting others is bad not good.
- Taking away the freedoms of others is bad not good.
- Not letting people think for themselves but forcing them to share your ideas is bad not good.
- Killing babies is definitely bad not good.
- Changing the natural order of things as God created them is bad not good.
- Good old-fashioned kindness and acceptance is good.
- Being law abiding and hardworking is good.
- Honesty and strong ethics are good.
It isn’t ignorance and unintelligence to hold fast to these “old-fashioned” ideas. They came from the God who made the world and knows what is truly good and evil.
If we really want to prosper in life, finding out what our CREATOR has to say about life and how it is to be lived would be the MOST INTELLIGENT choice to make. You can find this in the Bible. The Bible is not old fashioned and outdated. It is God’s wisdom for life. It is our manufacturer’s handbook.
Don’t be like those who wait for all else to fail before you read the instructions.
I agree there are many religious ideas and traditions mixed in with the current beliefs of Christianity that are not God’s ideas, and I think, these wrong ideas about God and His ways are what have turned people against God. So where do find the truth? In the Bible, the Bible minus the traditions…
As I was thinking about these things, I thought of this scripture.
Jeremiah 6:16-19 (AMP) – Thus says the Lord: Stand by the roads and look; and ask for the eternal paths, where the good, old way is; then walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, we will not walk in it! Also, I set watchmen over you, saying, Hear and obey the sound of the trumpet! But they said, we will not listen or obey. Therefore hear, O [Gentile] nations, and know, O congregation [of believing ones], what [great things I will do] to them. Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing evil upon this people, the fruit of their thoughts (their schemes and devices) because they have not listened and obeyed My words, and as for My law, they have rejected it.
Ask for the eternal paths, where the good, old way is. Then walk in it.
And you will find rest for your souls.
People won’t find the rest and peace they need walking in the ways of rebellion and lawlessness, trying to control others and not allowing them to think for themselves. The “progressive” ideas that are trying to take control of our world will only destroy it.
They say, we will not walk in it. We will not walk in the good old ways, they are for the unintelligent and ignorant.
God has set watchmen over us saying, hear and obey the sound of the trumpet. But they say, we will not listen or obey.
THEREFORE, hear O nations and know, hear O earth, behold, I am bringing evil upon this people, HE FRUIT OF THEIR THOUGHTS, THEIR SCHEMES AND DEVICES, because they have not listened or obeyed my words. And they have rejected my laws.
True Wisdom
1 Corinthians 1:19-20 – For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
1 Corinthians 2:6-7 – Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory.
1 Corinthians 3:18-20 – Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He catches the wise in their own craftiness” and again, the Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.
James 3:13-17 – Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.
