You are Blessed in What you DO not what you KNOW

The blessing of God I walk in is in accordance to my knowledge of the Word that is actually a part of my life.  I am blessed in what I DO not in what I KNOW.

It doesn’t come naturally to be a doer of the word.  People teach to be a doer not a hearer only and everyone puts themselves in the doer category because they want to be.  It is very easy to deceive yourself.  There is more to being a doer of the Word than just deciding to do it.

Not being a doer of the Word is a very deceptive thing.  You think you are a doer just because you have heard and agreed.  But you must do more than hear, you must look carefully at it and thoughtfully observe it and purposely act on it.   Otherwise you will go off and promptly forget what you have heard – and yet think because you know it you are doing it.

James 1:25 – But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

James 1:21-24 – Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.  But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.  For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.

The Word is what is able to save my soul.  I have to hear it and continue in it to be able to do it.  If I don’t continue in it, I will forget what I have heard and then I will forget to do it.  I will deceive myself thinking that just by hearing the word and agreeing with it that I am doing it.  But until I put it to practice, until I do what I have heard, I will not walk in the blessing of God.

The blessing and prosperity of God isn’t given to one above another.  It is given to us all, but we must know the Word and make it part of our lives to walk in His best.

If you just hear a message and agree with it, you will probably go off and forget it if you don’t review it.  If you don’t take the time to go over it and over and over it and feed on the truth you hear till it enters your heart and becomes part of you, you won’t be a doer of it.  You will be like one who sit and hear the words but don’t do them.

Ezekiel 33:30-33 – But as for you, son of man, your fellow citizens who talk about you by the walls and in the doorways of the houses, speak to one another, each to his brother, saying, come now and hear what the message is which comes forth from the Lord.  They come to you as people come, and sit before you as My people and hear your words, but they do not do them, for they do the lustful desires expressed by their mouth, and their heart goes after their gain.  Behold, you are to them like a sensual song by one who has a beautiful voice and plays well on an instrument; for they hear your words but they do not practice them.  So when it comes to pass—as surely it will—then they will know that a prophet has been in their midst.

Most Christians go to church and hear the Word, agree with it and maybe even delight in what they hear.  They try to put it into practice while it is still fresh in their minds.  But they lose most of what they hear because they don’t continue to go over it and over it and over it.  They have forgotten what they saw.  Only the one who looks intently and abides in it being an effectual doer will be blessed in what He does.

Remember you are not blessed by knowing it; you are blessed in what you DO.  Get out your Bible and look up all of the scriptures in the message your hear, look up the cross references, and do this regularly.  Continue in the Word.  The more you do this, the more it will become a part of you and the more likely you are to be a doer of it.

Hebrews 2:1-2 – For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it.  For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty… How will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?

Joshua 1:7-8 – Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to DO according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.  This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.

It is the doer of the word who is blessed; he is blessed in what he does.

Be careful to DO according to all that the Lord tells you to do – THEN you will have success wherever you go.  I won’t enjoy the success of God unless I DO what I know!

How do I do it?  This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth but you shall meditate on it day and night SO THAT you may be careful to DO it for THEN you will make you way prosperous and THEN you will have success.

Success and prosperity don’t just come upon me regardless of how I act.  I am the one who makes my way prosperous, and I do this by staying in the Word continually so that I might DO it.  When I do it, I prosper and have success.

The deception is in this – that they hear and agree but never make it a part of their lives.  Then  they may wonder why they are not walking in the blessing of God and prospering and having success in what they do.  God can only prosper what we do when what we do is according to His word.

Though God has provided all we need and put us all equally in a place of favor and blessing, we will only experience these things to the degree we do the Word, and we can only do the Word to the degree we know it, and we can only know it to the degree we hear it.  There is no excuse for not hearing the word in these days.  It is broadcast all over the internet as well as in local churches.  But just hearing it once isn’t enough.  Look it up for yourself, listen to it, read it, apply it, do it.  Only then will you walk in the wonderful things God has provided.

Romans 10:14-15, 17 – How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed?  How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard?  And how will they hear without a preacher?  How will they preach unless they are sent?  Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”  So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

Ephesians 1:3 – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

2 Peter 1:3 – Seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.  For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

Though I am already blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ, though He has granted me everything pertaining to life and godliness (all I need for both my natural and spiritual life), I won’t enjoy these things until I know them and act on them.  He has granted us everything we need through the knowledge of Him.   It is through his precious and magnificent promises that I partake of his nature and escape the things of world.

More on this

Luke 6:46-49 – Why do you call Me, Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say?  Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.  But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.

Both of these heard the word.  One heard and acted and one heard and did not act.  The difference between the one who fell in the storm and the one who didn’t what that the one who didn’t fall acted on the Word he heard.

Matthew 7:24-28 (Message) – These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living.  They are foundational words, words to build a life on.  If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock.  Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house.  It was fixed to the rock.  But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach.  When a storm rolled in and the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards.

Psalm 1:1-4 – How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.  He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. the wicked are not so, but they are like chaff which the wind drives away.

It you want to be one who prospers and lives in the success God wants for you, you will have to be one who acts on the Word.  but first you must hear the Word.  All things He has provided are given to you through the knowledge of God.  But knowledge alone isn’t enough; you must act on what you hear and be a doer of the word to be blessed in what you do.

Love it!! I was actually in Ezekiel 33 today! I was reading a few chapters around Ezekiel speaking to the dry bones. Speaking what God has spoken is so powerful. Kris Valloton in his new book, Spirit Wars was talking about the difference between foretelling and forthtelling. I could really see how those two facets of prophecy work hand in hand in the dry bones scriptures! I have a new appreciation for the role Forthtelling has in seeing prophetic promises we have received come to pass. Keep up the good work!! Love your posts.
