My Hunger for God

I received Jesus as my Savior and Lord and life on July 4, 1974, 43 years ago. This causes me to look back to where I have come from and forward to where I am going. I find inside myself one driving force that has kept me going and keeps me pressing on, and it is hunger for God.

Psalm 27:4 (The Passion Translation) – Here’s the one thing I crave from God, the one thing I seek above all else: I want the privilege of living with Him every moment in His house, finding the sweet loveliness of His face, filled with awe delighting in His glory and grace. I want to live my life so close to Him that He takes pleasure in my every prayer.

You are everything to me. Nothing compares with knowing you. Life has nothing else I want! You are my incomparable longing and desire. To know you and serve you in the Spirit has always been my greatest heart’s cry, so strong that I break at the power of it. Life has nothing, nothing, nothing for me compared to you!

I have sought you. I have longed for you. Come to me in response to my love and desire for you. Come to me in answer to my entire life’s prayers. Come to me in response to my longing for you. Come to me in accordance with the greatness of your mercy and power. Come to me now! I have sought you so long.

Let your mercy be upon me according to my hoping in you (Psalm 33:22). Make me glad according to the days I have been afflicted and the years I have seen evil. (Psalm 90:15).

More Presence Added to the Word

Lord, it is planted like seed into my life, the truth of the word and the Spirit. Water my life with your overwhelming presence and let the harvest come forth. Let your light shine and let your truth unfold fully. Let the strength of what comes forth be so strong as to crush out all remaining strongholds and negative thought patterns and cast aside every hindrance so that you can finally flow freely and plainly and clearly in and through me as I have always seen and longed for. Let the light shine so bright that every area of darkness is eliminated.

Lord you came to me years ago in power so strong that it scared me, so overwhelming that it transformed me, so powerful that for days and even years I felt you so strongly that I was always aware of you and at times could hardly move because of the presence of your glory. Come to me again. I want to know you more than anything! I want to know you more than ever. I want to experience everything that you are and have! I can live no longer without you.

And I want to get up from your presence full of and glowing and permeated with you and go out among people letting you in me do whatever you desire. I want to not just be filled with the Spirit but permeated down to the depths of my being into the core of how I think and what motivates me, to the control center of my life. This is not only a desire; Lord, you know it is my very life’s purpose. It is why you made me. That is why I know you will fulfill it in me.

Come to me now. I have waited so long. I have desired you so much. I have run into so many walls of delay, of disappointment and discouragement. But I have diligently sought you and got up and sought you again. My progress has not yet been anything compared to what I have seen in my heart. According to your Word, I am looking for the exceedingly, abundantly, far above all that I ask or think. Explode into me in your presence and reality. Explode through me in clarity of truth and understanding as I proclaim and demonstrate your word and your very self.

Power and glory. Lord, I want power and glory. Lord, I want you. Answer my prayer. Fulfill my longing. Fill my entire life. Flood me with your presence. Thanks for answering this prayer since you are the one who gave it to me. Let your will be done in my life as you have given it to me to pray. Let your will be done also through my life as you have destined and I have longed for. Let your perfect will flow into me and through me as you have always intended.

Lord, fill the vessel I have prepared for your highest and best purposes. I desire to be filled more and more, fuller and fuller and fuller – and again it will be that I am more aware of your presence than anything so that at times I can hardly move with the reality of you in me and around me and all who come near me feel you as they have in the past – but magnified greatly from what it ever was before. And this is what will open the doors to the opportunities I have known would be there.

Pressing on Toward His Purpose

Acts 20:24 – But life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God’s mighty kindness and love.

Philippians 3:8-9 – More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith.

Living – Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the priceless gain of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have put aside all else, counting it worth less than nothing, in order that I can have Christ.

I HAVE PUT ASIDE ALL ELSE, COUNTING IT AS WORTH LESS THAN NOTHING – IN ORDER THAT I CAN HAVE CHRIST.

Luke 10:41-42 – But the Lord answered and said to her, Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

There are so many things in life to be busy and bothered and worried about, but only one thing is necessary, Lord I have chosen this good part, and it shall not be taken away from me.

Ephesians 2:10 – For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

CEV – I will bless you with a future filled with hope—a future of success, not of suffering.

TEV – I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.

Living – For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

1 Timothy 6:12 – Fight the good fight of the faith; lay hold of the eternal life to which you were summoned and [for which] you confessed the good confession [of faith] before many witnesses.

God has planned for me a future filled with hope, a future of success, plans for my good and prosperity.

God made me and given me gifts and abilities to do specific good works predestined and planned for me. It would be worth my effort to find out what this plan is and live it. My food, my fulfillment in life, will come only as I do His will and accomplish the work set apart for me.

So I press on to know know Him and to take hold of what I have been taken hold of for, to find and fulfill your highest and best purposes for me, which is me being myself to the utmost, completely filled with, permeated and moved by you in me. My life is not only me; it is you in me, loving me and filling me to be me.

Galatians 2:20 – I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Thank you, Lord for answering this prayer which is the highest longing of my heart!
