A Present Help Part 2

God’s Help is Real and Always There – Draw Near and Take it

Psalm 46:1 – God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Hebrews 4:15-16 (Amplified) – For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning. Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].

God is able and willing to come to my aid when I am tempted.  He is a very present help in every trouble!  Every Time!

The first step is to know He is there and will help.  The second step and the step which is most important is that you act on your knowledge and come boldly to His throne of mercy and TAKE; RECEIVE what you have need of in every time of need – just as the scripture above says – appropriate help and well timed help coming just when we need in in every time of need.

There is Always a Way

There is always and answer, a solution to every problem that arises in life. There is always a way to victory. All things are possible to the one who believes. All things are possible to God. All things are possible to me when I believe. And God is ALWAYS willing to help me and give wisdom – whatever I face.

When you look and can see no hope and no way, you are looking in the wrong direction. With God there is always hope, always a way. With God all things are possible.  He is the God of hope and will fill you with hope also when you get close enough to hear Him.  He will give hope, but He will also give you wisdom that will lead to your victory when followed (Romans 14:17; James 1:5-8).  Look to the God of hope rather than the problems and situations around you.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord…

To get the wisdom, you must ask and be certain, absolutely convinced, that you will get it. You must know with that knowing that is beyond knowledge, that assurance that has no trace of doubt or uncertainty.  Why can you have this kind of certainty?  Because of what God said, “if ANY lack wisdom, let him ask of God, and IT WILL BE GIVEN HIM.”  If you are included the “ANY” you are included here.

He Sees, Knows & Understands and Will Help

The Lord always sees and understands fully the distress and inner struggles we have as well as the outward things we go through. But He does more than just see; He cares and wants to help – always.

By His Word He has put Himself perpetually at the end of our cry for help, when He said, “Fear not. I will help you.”

Isaiah 41:10, 14 – Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel; I will help you, declares the Lord, and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

Go to God and say to Him,  “Lord, I thank you that you are with me.  You are my God.  I take your strength.  Thank you for strengthening me.  I take your help.  Thank you for helping me.  Thank you for upholding me.  I trust in you and relax into you loving arms.”

He understands fully what we are like, and yet He gave His life for us. He has not dealt with us according to our sins but according to His mercy and love.

He has such great mercy that He has removed all of our sins. He has compassion upon us because He knows what we are like. He is able (and willing) to help us, relieve us and support us when we are tempted. There is always mercy for us. We are told to come boldly and receive it in every time of need.

John 2:24-25 – But Jesus on His part was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men, and because He did not need anyone to testify concerning man, for He knew what was in a man.

He knew it and yet He gave His life to become our salvation anyway. While we were helpless, when we were sinners, while we were enemies, He died for our sins. He thought we were worth the effort.

How much more will He do for us now? God went to great extents to give His Son for us. How much more now will He give us freely all things with Him. Since God is for us as He has proved He is, who can possibly be against us? He is with us to help us, strengthen us and support us in whatever we fall into.

Psalm 103: 10-14 – He has not dealt with us according to our sins nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His mercy towards those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame (what we are made of); He is mindful that we are but dust.

He hasn’t dealt with us according to our sins but according to His mercy! He is rich in mercy and delights in mercy so much that He has lavished it upon us. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

He has completely removed our sins as a barrier between us and Him and because of this we are always welcome to come to Him – no matter what we are going through, no matter what sin dogging our feet. He has made us holy and blameless, welcome into His grace through His blood. He has made us righteous by His obedience. So let us dare to believe it and draw near by the new and living way through His blood.

He is ever giving. He has provided everything we could ever need, there and waiting for our taking. Whether we have His help or not isn’t up to Him but up to us. We receive based on what we know and believe in our hearts and how we approach Him. The way to approach Him is through faith in Him and what He has done and in humility and dependence on Him.

The way to approach Him isn’t to go over and over to Him how you feel or to continually recite your problems to Him as if He didn’t really hear you the first time. He already knows what you need even before you ask, and His promise to help is eternal and unchangeable. His provision has already been made. It is not something you need to beg for; you simply take Him at His word and receive it. This is how it works because this is how the Lord designed it to work.

If you continue to go over and over the problems  to God, you will stay in the same old problems year after year. You need to mention them and make request about them, but then you need to move on out from yourself and what you are going through and into the reality of God Himself, what He is like and what He has promised. You need to believe He sees and knows and understands and has heard you when you pray – based on His word alone – before you see or feel any change.

We are told to approach Him confidently, knowing He sees and knows and understands and is touched with how we feel, that He actually cares and wants us relieved, delivered, helped, whatever it is we need – and because of this to believe He hears and that we receive when we pray. We do this based on the Word not on feelings or experience.

Then you need to go away knowing you have the answer. You do this based on His Word alone – just because He said it. And it has to start before you see or feel or experience any changes. The answer has to be based on His Word and eternal character not on your feelings or whether or not things change right away.  In most cases, we will have to do something to express our faith before we actually enjoy the answer, even if it is thanking God for hearing and answering our prayers and believing we go away with what we asked (1 John 5:14-15; Mark 11:24).

When you get this, you have found the way of interaction with God that He has provided – FAITH. Faith is the medium through which we receive anything God has provided. Faith is the medium through which we live. The one who through faith is righteous shall live by faith. Without faith it is impossible to please Him or to receive from Him. Faith is the open door to receiving from God.

He is always reaching down with His present help and mercy. You meet His love and mercy with your faith and take it to yourself. This has always been and will always be the effective way to meet Him and receive the answer – and it works every time. It is all by grace through faith. He has given all that we could ever need (grace) and we take it freely (faith).

If I want His answers always, I will need to adjust what I am doing to what the Bible teaches about approaching God and receiving answers. I have to adjust because He won’t. He longs to help me. He waits and desires for me to do my part so He can help me. He delights in it when things go well with me. He delights in my prosperity. He longs for me to enjoy fully all of the blessings and provisions He has provided for me at great cost to Himself. Why would He have done what He did otherwise?

Isaiah 40:27-31 – Why do you say, O Jacob, And speak, O Israel: “My way is hidden from the Lord, And my just claim is passed over by my God”? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

Don’t say that He doesn’t see. Don’t say that He doesn’t know. Don’t think that He doesn’t care. He is great in understanding.  He is the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth – and He cares about you – and understands what you are going through – and LONGS to help you!

Come and wait in His presence until you realize that He is there, that He actually cares. Meditate and delight in Him and what He is like and what He has promised. You will gain renewed strength in His presence. His presence will cause the storm to cease and the contrary forces to abate. When you realize how much He really wants to help, you will accept it and go your way believing it is done – and it will be.
