ONE Thing – Part 2

Psalms 27:4 (Amplified Bible) – One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple.

Yes, Lord this is the ONE THING I desire above all things – to know you and dwell in your presence all the days of my life, to behold and know you in your beauty and to learn from you and live in constant fellowship with you.

Philippians 3:10 (Amplified Bible)– [For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection…

My determined purpose is that I may know Him, better and better and better, to know and understand the wonders of His person more strongly and more clearly, that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately aquainted with Him, that I might know and see more clearly the wonders of His person.

John 17:3 (Amplified Bible) – And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.

Eternal life is TO KNOW HIM, the only true and real God.  The main thing in life is to know Him.  We were made for fellowship with God.  There is nothing that can fully satisfy our hearts except a relationship with God.  We are made to live in His presence, to share our lives with Him and let Him share His life with us, to live in a relationship and fellowship that is as real as any other face to face relationship you have.

Exodus 33:11 – And the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.

In those days some leaders and prophets and priests could have intimate face to face relationship with God.  but in these days we  have all been brought near to God our Father through what Jesus did for us.  And He desires each and every one of us enjoy daily friendship and communion with Himself.

1 Corinthians 1:9 – …By Him you were called into companionship and participation with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

This is our main calling – COMPANIONSHIP WITH GOD!  Out of this intimate companionship will flow every other thing He wants us to do in life.

Corinthians 13:14 – The grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the presence and fellowship in the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen

Message – The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you.

Yes, Lord, may the presence and fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all, yes, the amazing grace of Jesus, the extravagant love of God Himself, and intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit be with us all.  This closeness with God is for each and every one of us.

1 Chronicles 16:11 – Seek the Lord and His strength; yearn for and seek His face and to be in His presence continually!

If you are not yet living in the closeness with God these passages describe, seek the Lord.  Seek Him and yearn for Him.  Long to be in His presence continually.  Seeking involves a heart hunger, but it also involved outward action.  If you long for Him, do whatever is necessary to know Him.  Spend time in prayer.  Talk to Him as if He is there (He is).  Treat Him as if  He is there (He is).  Get to know Him through His word as well as through spending time with Him in prayer.

Faith is also necessary.  Without or apart from faith it is impossible to please Him.  We must believe what the word says about who He is and what He is like and act accordingly.  If He says He is with you and will never leave or forsake you, take this as a fact and base your life on it.  ACT LIKE you believe it.

Ephesians 3:17, 19 (Amplified Bible) – May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts!  May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love, that you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!

It is through my faith that Christ will actually dwell, settle down, abide and make His permanent home in my heart.  It is as I know and understand His love and experience it that I can be filled through all my being until all the fullness of God and enjoy the richest measure of the divine presence and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself.  Imagine that!  A body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself!

Galatians 2:20 – I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

The way I am designed to live now in the flesh is by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself up for me.  As I live by faith in Him who dwells in me, He actually dwells in me and lives through me.  I live not in my own ability and strength but in His.  He is always there, always seeing and understanding what faces me, always willing to help, always there to flow in and through me.  I live through Him!  He lives through me!  We are one!

John 14:21-23 – The person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. [I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.] Judas, not Iscariot, asked Him, Lord, how is it that You will reveal Yourself [make Yourself real] to us and not to the world?  Jesus answered, if a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.

It is those who learn God’s ways and keep them that He will come to and make His dwelling place in.  Those who love Jesus, He will love and will show and reveal and manifest Himself too.  He will let Himself be clearly seen and make Himself real.  Who will He do this for?  Those who want Him so much that they will do whatever it takes to know Him and walk with Him.  They find out from His Word want He wants and do it.

John 15:4-5 – Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me. I am the Vine; you are the branches.  Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.

Only those who abide in Him and STAY in His presence will bear fruit.  You can’t bear fruit apart from His presence.  Apart from Him we can do nothing real and lasting for Him.

Lord, this is what I want, to know you and abide in you and walk with you so that It is not my life or abilities that I live by but it is you living through me as I live through you.  I want to know you first and foremost, intimately and closely, in a face to face relationship just as your word shows is for me.  So I will draw near to you and learn of you from your word and treat you as an honest being who I can trust and whose word I can trust, and I will walk with you by faith every day of my life.
