You Can Be Healthy

Why Am I Not Healed? I Believe in Healing

Week 2 – Foundational Scriptures on Healing

The first thing to establish in believing for healing is the will of God. To take and live in the healing God has provided, you must first be fully convinced that it is God’s will to heal you.

How can we do that? We find the will of God in Scripture, not in tradition or experience. You will have to be willing to put aside what you have been taught, what you have heard and thought about healing and take what the Word of God clearly says. This is called renewing the mind.

“Faith begins where the will of God is known.” F.F. Bosworth

“Faith must rest on the will of God alone, not on our desires or wishes.” F.F. Bosworth

“Appropriating faith is not believing that God can, but that He will.” F.F. Bosworth

“The most important element in the prayer of faith is the full and firm persuasion that the healing of disease by simple faith in God is a part of the Gospel and a doctrine of the Scriptures. A.B Simpson

The A mere vague trust in the possible acceptance of our prayer is not faith definite enough to grapple with the forces of disease and death!? A.B Simpson

Some Scriptures

Exodus 15:26 – Saying, if you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God and will do what is right in His sight and will listen to and obey His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord Who heals you.

His name is Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals. His redemptive names reveal His nature. It is the nature of God to be a healer.

Exodus 3:14-15 – God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM; and He said, thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, I AM has sent me to you. God, furthermore, said to Moses, thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, the Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.

Isaiah 53:3-5 – He was despised and rejected and forsaken by men, a Man of sorrows and pains, and acquainted with grief and sickness; and like One from Whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or have any esteem for Him. Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.

Matthew 8:16-17 – When evening came, they brought to Him many who were under the power of demons, and He drove out the spirits with a word and restored to health all who were sick. And thus He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, He Himself took [in order to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases.

This is the commentary of Jesus on Isaiah 53. He applied this scripture to physical healing.

1 Peter 2:24 – He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree [as on an altar and offered Himself on it], that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.

Psalm 103:1-5 – Bless the Lord, my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, my soul, and do not forget any of His benefits; Who pardons all your guilt, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with favor and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

Exodus 23:25-26 – You shall serve the Lord your God; He shall bless your bread and water, and I will take sickness from your midst. None shall lose her young by miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.

Deuteronomy 7:14-15 – You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle. And the Lord will take away from you all sickness, and none of the evil diseases of Egypt which you knew will He put upon you, but will lay them upon all who hate you.

Acts 10:38 – You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Activations

  1. Write down these healing scriptures and more that you add.
  2. Go over them daily. It is your medicine (Proverbs 4:20-22).
  3. Speak these truths continually to yourself.
  4. Ask the Lord what you need to focus on and search out scripture speaking to you.
  5. Purposely believe what God has said above what you have always thought. Replace your old ways of thinking with truth.

If go over these things and do the activations every week, your life will begin to be transformed. If you continue to do them, you can grow to the place where health is more normal to you than sickness, weakness, and disease.
