Why An I Not Healed?

Why Am I Not Healed? I Believe in Healing

Scriptural Reasons People Aren’t Healed – Reasons 12-16

The Healing Covenant is Conditional

Though healing is part of our redemption in Christ, it is conditional. In the Old Testament, it is connected to obedience to the law, but in the New Testament it is connected to what Jesus did, our faith, and our prosperity of soul (renewed mind), as well as our lifestyle and mindsets.

With every divine promise, there are conditions. The covenant of healing given in Exodus 15 is conditional.

Exodus 15:26 – And He said, if you will give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your healer.

    • Give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord.
    • Do what is right in His sight.
    • Give ear to His commandments.
    • Keep all His statutes.

Many seek healing on their own terms rather than God’s. This is a great mistake because it can keep full healing from manifesting in your life.

Deuteronomy 28:1-2, 15 – If you will listen diligently to the voice of the Lord your God, being watchful to do all His commandments which I command you this day, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you if you heed the voice of the Lord your God. …But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord your God, being watchful to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command you this day, then all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you.

There are curses and sicknesses in the world that will come upon all who don’t walk with the Lord and walk in His ways.

In Deuteronomy 28, God listed many diseases that would come upon the Israelites if they do not obey the voice of the Lord.

    Blindness (vs. 28)Boils (vs. 27)Consumption (vs. 22)Tumors (vs. 27)Severe burning fever (vs. 22)Fever (vs. 22)Inflammation (vs. 22)Itch (vs. 27)Madness (vs. 28)Scab (vs. 27)Plague (vs. 24)Confusion of heart (vs. 28)

    V. 60-61 – Moreover, He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. Also, every sickness and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, will the Lord bring upon you until you are destroyed.

In the New Testament, we see we are redeemed from the curse and are to live in the blessing not by works or perfect obedience but by faith.

Galatians 3:13-14 – Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree – in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

We live by faith, but we are also to follow common sense health laws. Failure to properly care for the body may indicate a violation of the physical rather than of the moral law.

    Overwork and Pushing Your Body

Philippians 2:26-27, 30 – He was longing for you all, and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick. For indeed he was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him… for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me

It appears that the Philippian church had failed to properly support Paul while he was serving them. Epaphroditus saw the need and worked beyond his strength to make up for the lack. But it was too much for him. He broke down physically and almost died. God spared him, but it was not a matter of being healed from a disease. Epaphroditus apparently required an extended period to recover his strength.

Many ministers and Christian workers keep working though their strength is depleted. When people go beyond their strength, it sometimes takes months or even years to recuperate.

God gave us the Sabbath to rest our bodies once a week. I think many are sick and weak and tired because they don’t take heed to this. Though we aren’t under the Sabbath as a law, we are under the Sabbath as a principle. Following God’s ways will always give us better results than not.

    Symptoms can be lies.

Many times, the enemy brings a symptom to you. If you accept it as something real and treat it as real, it will become real, but if you resist it when you first feel it, it will flee and never develop into anything real at all.

I would say that 90% of symptoms that have come upon me throughout my life have been lies, and when I resisted them, they turned into nothing and just passed by. If I had accepted them as a reality and said, oh no, I am sick. I am getting this or that, they would probably have taken hold and become a sickness or ailment that stayed.

Jonah 2:8-10 – They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

Vanity – Deceit, lie, falsehood, emptiness, without form.

Most Important: Be led by the Holy Spirit as to what you should do about your health and healing paths.

It is God’s will for you to be healed and healthy, but He has many ways for you to get there, spiritual as well as medical. He may emphasize your diet and exercise habits. However He leads, He loves you and wants you whole – and will get you there if you cooperate with Him.

Some people have not been healed or even died because the did what someone else did or said to do – but didn’t ask God for themselves what they should do.

He may lead you to take the medical path, He may lead you to take the spiritual-only path, but it is between you and the Lord.

More Observations: Why is it so difficult for many to receive healing?

I see people asking and waiting for the Lord to heal them, hoping to feel better and therefore know they are healed. They think if He hears them and wants to heal them, they will just be healed. But if He they don’t see or feel results quickly, somewhere down in their heart they hold to the belief that maybe it wasn’t His will or His time or they didn’t do enough or aren’t worthy enough?

I don’t see too many diligently taking hold of the truth that healing belongs to us and fighting for it. Even among those who say they believe healing is the will of God, there is a sense of doubt, an underlying feeling that for some reason it might not work – lack of expectation.

People disqualify themselves from the blessings and provisions of God for many reasons and them blame it on the mysterious and unknowable will of God. They put the idea of “mystery” above the plain and clear truths of the Word of God.

These small seeds of doubt are enough to block or hinder healing. The lack of results this brings further increases doubt and leads to even more failure in receiving healing and walking in health – till we get to the place we give up on it – in heart if not in will.

Talking of personal health and ailments is a very common area of conversation, especially as people age. I hear many continually talking about their current symptoms and using them as reasons they can’t do things.

When you continually speak of sickness and symptoms, it reveals what is in your heart. Continually speaking of your symptoms will keep them active and present and ruling your life. Your body does wear out as you age, but continually focusing on this and speaking it continually causes it to happen more quickly. Instead believe for and speak health and strength for all of your days.

Speaking of your ailments and weaknesses all of the time shows you internally have more faith in sickness than in God’s healing. It shows that the symptoms are a part of who you are not just something that has attacked you.

You won’t consistently walk in health as long as you continually think about and tell others how you feel.

There could be many other reasons people are not healed. But God knows why. Ask Him for wisdom as to what is hindering YOUR healing and EXPECT Him to give it, and He will.

    Activations

    • Ask the Lord to reveal to you reasons why you aren’t as healthy as you wish you were – and EXPECT Him to tell you – James 1:5-8; Jeremiah 17:9-10 (MSG).
    • When you see an area of lack in your believing and receiving:
    • Don’t condemn yourself. Condemnation will get you nowhere.
    • Find scriptures that counteract the lies you are believing, write them out, and speak them to yourself to break the old patterns – 2 Corinthians 10:3-5.
    • Purposely and intentionally believe what God has said. You will be transformed by changing what you think.
    • Spend time with the Lord seeing yourself with the promises of God; visualize your life healthy.

If you will take the time to go over these things and do the activations every week, your health will begin to be transformed. If you continue to do them, you can grow to the place where health is more normal to you than sickness, weakness, and disease.
