Scriptural Reasons People Aren’t Healed – Reasons 1-4

Introduction

The reason a person doesn’t receive their healing is mostly likely something simple. It isn’t some mysterious hidden purpose of God. If a person is not living in the provision of God, there is a reason, and He will always reveal it (James 1:5-8).

The person may have been taught untruths about healing, and religious traditions are hard to get rid of. There are many false doctrines (traditions of man, deceiving spirits, and doctrines of demons) built into the fabric of “sound doctrine” to justify those who aren’t healed.

They may have heard healing truths and believe them, but something in their heart isn’t fully persuaded that healing is for them. Or maybe they don’t feel worthy to receive it.

Our inner belief systems are not always the same as our outer beliefs. If there is even the slightest doubt concerning the will of God, it will block you from receiving the healing that is provided for us all.

Some have had prayer many times or seen others prayed for without results that they have given up in their hope. Receiving healing is no longer expected in many churches. They pray for the sick hoping it might happen. But, of course, it rarely does. Healing has become a doctrine rather than a reality.

There is a difference between knowing the Word and living the Word. You can know and accept the truths of the Bible with your mind with your heart not fully agreeing. You can teel what you really believe by your actions and by your words.

There is a difference between deciding to believe the Word and actually believing from the heart. There is a difference between believing healing as a doctrine and believing it to the degree that enjoy its benefits.

Before trying to go deeper to find some inner problem, let us start with some basics which are clearly shown in His Word.

Once we get our believing about healing and God as our healer in accord with Scripture, if we still don’t receive, then we can look deeper.

Romans 14:23 (MSG) – But if you’re not sure, if you notice that you are acting in ways inconsistent with what you say you believe, then you know that something is out of line.

Some Biblical Reasons People are not Healed?

The traditions of man can disempower the power of the Word.

Matthew 15:3, 6 – Why do you yourselves also break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? You have invalidated the Word of God for the sake of your tradition.

Extreme Predestination – The extreme teaching about the sovereignty of God and predestination, that if God wants you healed, He will heal you, and otherwise, not…

Cessationism – The teaching that miracles and healing have passed away. Most of us know this isn’t’ true, but the remains of this belief continues inside many of of us anyway.

Secularism, Humanism, Rationalism – These ideas and concepts got into church beliefs. Natural thoughts like “God’s way of healing these days is doctors” replaced the truth.”

• Rationalism – The belief or theory that opinions and actions should be based on reason and knowledge rather than on religious belief or emotional response.
• Secularism – As a philosophy, secularism seeks to interpret life based on principles derived solely from the material world, without recourse to religion.
• Humanism – An outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters.

An Inaccurate Picture of God – Many of us still have the remains of an inaccurate picture of a judging God looking to find sin to punish. We may carry around a low-grade guilt and sense of falling short that can keep us from receiving our healing. We disqualify ourselves in our own mind and thus block the power and love of God.

Healing Might not be the Will of God – Much of the church world emphasizes the will of God regarding healing first and foremost. But Jesus didn’t even mention the will of God when healing. Jesus emphasized individual faith not whether healing is the will of God. If the will of God was the main determining factor in healing, Jesus would have said that instead of continually saying, your faith has made your whole. In the one case where the will of God was mentioned, Jesus said, “I will”.

Religious traditions are some of the most dangerous things keeping us from God’s will because they have usurped and replaced the Word of God. The traditions of man will make the Word of God of no effect. We must be on our watch and on guard against traditions that contradict the Word of God.

Many people hang onto their traditions so strongly that they can’t even see what the Word clearly teaches.

Unbelief

Matthew 13:58 – And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.

Mark 6:5-6 – And He could not do any miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He was amazed at their unbelief. And He was going around the villages teaching. The cure for unbelief is learning the truth.

Mark 9:23 – If you can do anything, take pity on us and help us. And Jesus said to him, If you can? All things are possible to him who believes.

Why Don’t We See More Miracles?

We have learned about healing. We have learned about miracles. But we don’t experience what we know. Why don’t we see the miracles of healing? What does the Bible say? One reason is expressed by the Apostle Paul in the book of Galatians.

Galatians 3:5 (AMP) – Then does He Who supplies you with His marvelous [Holy] Spirit and works powerfully and miraculously among you do so on [the grounds of your doing] what the Law demands, or because of your believing in and adhering to and trusting in and relying on the message that you heard?

According to this passage, it is more because we don’t believe than that we fall short in our behavior. He works miracles among us on the basis of our believing not our doing.

Ignorance

Romans 10:2-3 – For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

Hosea 4:6 – My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

If a person doesn’t know God’s will and provision concerning healing or how He set things up for us to receive it, they will likely not receive it – except when God divinely intervenes.

Activations

• Ask the Lord to reveal to you reasons why you aren’t as healthy as you wish you were – and EXPECT Him to tell you – James 1:5-8; Jeremiah 17:9-10 (MSG).
• When you see an area of lack in your believing and receiving:
• Don’t condemn yourself. Condemnation will get you nowhere.
• Find scriptures that counteract the lies you are believing, write them out, and speak them to yourself to break the old patterns – 2 Corinthians 10:3-5.
• Purposely and intentionally believe what God has said. You will be transformed by changing what you think.
• Spend time with the Lord seeing yourself with the promises of God; visualize your life healthy.

If you will take the time to go over these things and do the activations every week, your health will begin to be transformed. If you continue to do them, you can grow to the place where health is more normal to you than sickness, weakness, and disease.
